Watch Traffic Stop Gunfight Erupt Between Chicago Police, Driver

Chicago police released video footage of a chaotic shootout between officers and a driver during a traffic stop earlier this month.

The incident happened at about 2 p.m. when officers in an unmarked police SUV tried to pull over Jerome Halsey, 27, for erratic driving in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood, WFLD-TV reports. After Halsey pulled into a dead end alley, he sprung out of his car and opened fire on police.

Three officers rushed out of the SUV and returned fire. Officer Erik Moreno was struck in the arm and torso, and Halsey was shot in the body.

A bag with several extended magazines was found in Halsey's car. He faces attempted murder of a police officer and aggravated battery charges.

Moreno was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition. He was released from the hospital about a week later.
